Gorongosa National Park
Gorongosa National Park is one of Africa’s most inspiring wilderness destinations — a place where dramatic landscapes, remarkable biodiversity, and one of the continent’s greatest conservation success stories come together. Set in central Mozambique at the southern end of the Great African Rift Valley, Gorongosa protects a rich mosaic of floodplains, savannah, woodlands, rivers, lakes, and the forested slopes of Mount Gorongosa. Once celebrated as one of Africa’s finest wildlife areas, the park suffered greatly during Mozambique’s years of conflict. Today, however, Gorongosa has been reborn through an ambitious restoration partnership between the Government of Mozambique and the Carr Foundation, with wildlife populations recovering and conservation closely linked to community development. A safari in Gorongosa offers a beautifully authentic and still relatively undiscovered experience. Guests can encounter elephants, lions, hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, antelope, and an exceptional variety of birdlife, while also witnessing the powerful story of an ecosystem returning to life. More than just a national park, Gorongosa is a symbol of hope — a wilderness where nature, people, and conservation are working together to create a brighter future for Mozambique.
Quirimbas Archipelago
Most of the island chains that dot the Mozambique Channel from Pemba northward to the border with Tanzania are included in the Quirimbas Archipelago. These remote islands are beautiful retreats for the adventurous, and range from flat coral islands to deep green and hilly, and offer a range of experiences. Pemba town is the gateway to the Quirimbas, and flights from Dar es Salaam and Johannesburg connect here for boat transfers.
Southern Coast Mozambique
The Souithern Coast of Mozambique is between the capital city of Maputo and the Kosi Bay/South Africa border. Warmed by the Indian Ocean current moving south from the equator, the country's clear waters and subtropical climate provides travellers with an enticing welcoming beachside escape. Mozambique enjoys a tropical climate, with plenty of sunshine throughout the year. The average temperature is around 28C and the weather along the coast is sunny and warm, even in mid-Winter. The country has two seasons; a wet season (from October to March) and a dry season (from April to September) - with very little variation in temperatures between the two.
Vilanculos & Bazaruto Archipelago
The Bazaruto Archipelago is made up of 4 large islands, Bazaruto, Benguerra, Santa Isobel and Santa Carolina. The town of Vilcanulos lies on the mainland, and is the gateway to exploring these tropical beauties. Vilanculos has a number of bars and restaurants and is bustling with a vibrant nightlife. From here there are flights out to the islands, where a range of luxurious beach lodges has been set up to make the most of the beautiful waters and coral reefs.
