The Experience
Olduvai Camp is discreetly nestled around a kopje in the heart of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Northern Tanzania. This unique camp offers a chance to experience nature where it truly began, situated between the vast plains of the Serengeti and the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater, and close to the fabled Olduvai Gorge. Here, humans and wildlife have coexisted for centuries, with the Maasai living in tune with their ancestral rhythms. Guests are invited to slow down, observe, and rejuvenate in this extraordinary setting.
The camp features 17 spacious tents, each thoughtfully positioned around the kopje on stone terraces, offering infinite views of the plains. These thatch-roofed tents blend canvas, wood, and natural materials with understated elegance, ensuring modern comfort without compromising the spirit of the bush. Each tent includes a large bedroom, dressing area, a private bathroom with 24/7 solar-heated water, flush toilets, and a private terrace. The interior design draws inspiration from the savannah, with soft ochres, beiges, and faded greens creating a unique and serene atmosphere. At night, the gentle rustle of wind in the acacias and distant wildlife sounds provide a natural lullaby.
Olduvai Camp seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings, with communal areas built into the kopje rock under impressive thatch roofs. Guests can enjoy a friendly bar, a central restaurant accommodating 40 people, a perched lounge, and a smaller rock-side restaurant for more intimate gatherings, all designed to inspire contemplation and offer spectacular views of the endless plains.
