Kibale National Park
Kibale National Park is recognized as the 'Primate Capital of the World,' boasting the highest concentration and diversity of primates in East Africa. Its primary draw is chimpanzee trekking, offering close encounters with these intelligent great apes in their natural forest habitat. Beyond chimpanzees, the park is home to 12 other primate species, including red colobus, L'Hoest's monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. The varied forest ecosystem also supports forest elephants, buffalo, and a rich array of birdlife.

Kibale National Park in April
Weather
April is one of the wettest months, with frequent and heavy rainfall. Temperatures are milder, averaging 18°C to 25°C.
Highlights
The forest is incredibly verdant and alive. While chimpanzee trekking is more challenging, the abundance of food means they stay within smaller areas.
Best Areas
Focus on the main trekking routes around Kanyanchu. Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is still vibrant with birdlife.
Pros
Lush landscapes for photography, fewer tourists, and potentially lower prices for permits and accommodation. Good for birding.
Cons
Muddy and slippery trails, making trekking more difficult. Rain can be persistent, affecting visibility and comfort.
